Securing your identity and your funds are the most important things we do.
There are many areas where our vigilance against fraud and identity theft works for you:
Outstanding Log-in Protection
Account Funding
Protecting the storage of your personal information
Privacy
Protecting your account numbers
Recognition of suspicious account activity
Level of acceptable loss
Full account access information
- Outstanding Log-in Protection: EMO’s Secure Card provides an extra layer of log-in protection for your
account. If phishing or key-logging schemes are successful in obtaining your email and password, your
account will still remain secure. Your personalized Secure Card is required for log-in. To learn more about
it, create an account and go to your Preferences page.
- Account Funding: We make certain that registrants are who they say they are using our proprietary verification methods.
This is to ensure that your identity has not been stolen and used to steal money and sully your reputation. The verification
process is managed by an EMO employee where judgment and experience are individually applied.
- Protecting the storage of your personal information: We’ve all read about financial institutions’ databases being
hacked and customer information being stolen. These institutions typically take the easy approach and put all of your
data in one place and rely only on preventing penetration into their servers. In this case hackers who break just
one string of security can get your data. EMO encrypts your data and stores your information in different ways
and in different places. Hackers are then challenged with breaking multiple security strings only to find that
there is no way to associate the different parts of the data. The data is useless to them and your identity and
your funds remain secure in EMO. This is not the easy, typical approach. It makes us work harder, but we believe
customer security and protection are paramount, so we go the extra mile.
- Privacy: Your account numbers are only partially visible from your account page, so if someone obtains your ID and Password, and
then proceeds to log-in, they cannot steal your bank account or credit card numbers. EMO employees can only see the partial numbers
as well. Also, information you submit to verify your identity is not accessible from the Internet. Note that the Patriot Act
requires that we retain this information.
- Protecting your account numbers: Whenever you write a check or use a credit card, people you don’t know see your
account numbers. Thankfully, this is typically not a problem. But when a fraudster does attack, your life can be made
miserable for years. With EMO, when you make a payment or transfer, your personal account numbers are NOT exposed.
On a printed EMO, we put our bank account number, not yours. On an emailed EMO, there’s no account information.
- Recognition of suspicious account activity: We are vigilant in our fraud detection. If we see unusual activity in
any account, we will contact the account owner to verify its legitimacy.
- Level of acceptable loss: Most regular financial institutions have insurance to cover your loss if your account is
compromised and money stolen. Up to that amount they don’t care much, regardless of what it does to your credit rating
and identity security. At EMO, our acceptable level of loss is ZERO. We will not tolerate ANY fraudulent activity and
have demonstrated this by tracking down and prosecuting perpetrators.
- Full account access information: You may view your account security report at any time. This information is provided
to you as a means to determine when and from where your account was accessed. This information gives you the ability to see
what logins and activity have occurred on your account. If you feel your account has been accessed by someone other than you,
you should IMMEDIATELY change your password and contact EMO Customer Support with the details of your concerns.
At EMO, we believe the future of money is about the flexibility of moving money and more... It’s about protecting it too.
